Digital Archives and Cultural Conflict -Data, Interpretation and Value Pyramid for Responsible Scholarship-

Open access to digital archives is a key driver for open science, but it may also be the cause of cultural conflict in the public space when controversial data is interpreted in the context of values originated in different cultures. We introduce our digital archive North China Railway Archive, which is the archive of wartime photographs for publicity activities, and discuss research agendas for developing digital archives as infrastructure for responsible scholarship.
