World-wide wind direction and speed prediction is shown on Google Maps for various types of numerical weather prediction model GPV (Global Spectral Model, Regional Spectral Model, Meso-Scale Model) from Japan Meteorological Agency. By switching pressure levels, you can see wind information for various altitudes. About the choice of models, "Global Spectral Model" has lower resolution but covers the world, "Regional Spectral Model" has lower resolution but has longer forecast period, and "Meso-Scale Model" has smaller coverage but has the highest resolution. It is recommended to understand difference between models and choose the appropriate model for your purpose.
