Restart of the Distribution of Visible Imagery

Visible imagery is finally back. The distribution is started again after a stop of nearly two years since July 14, 2005.

To resume this service, we are indebted to new data providers, namely, Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, and Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo.

The retrospective processing of visible imagery, moreover, is now under process using satellite images from Japan Meteorological Business Support Center. We expect to have the continuous dataset of visible imagery since July 2005.

At this moment, however, we may see some troubles of the system. Due to the current system of data providers, the distribution of visible imagery is delayed to some extent.

In addition, the comparison of visible images and sky images is started again at fixed-point observations.
