System Trouble Information

The system had troubles for a long period of time between July 30, 2007 to July 31, 2007. I am sorry for the inconvenience. The following summarizes how this trouble happened.

Firstly, on July 30, 2007, we upgraded the system, and stopped it between 12 JST and 13 JST for about an hour. This finished without troubles.

However, another trouble happened around 18 JST on July 30, 2007, as if it was stimulated by the upgrade. This trouble changed the hard disks into a read-only state, which means no updating of data is allowed on the hard disks. This trouble resulted in outdated information on the Website, and the stop of some database services.

We tried some simple recovery procedures, but failed, so we had to resort to a procedure which requires all data to be copied to new hard disks. This procedure prevents the recovery of the system until the copy of all data is completely finished, and due to our inefficient recovery procedures, it took more than one day for recovery.

The system recovered partially after 23 JST on July 31, 2007, but for complete recovery, the system may stop on August 1, 2007. I appreciate your understanding. For your information, it is expected that there is no loss of data due to this trouble, or negligible, if any.
