Digital Silk Road project aims at creating digital cultural heritage along Silk Road. The project covers the wide range of topics including the digitization of rare books, georeferencing of old maps, virtual reality of historical ruins, ontology-based data management, online publications of research resources, participatory digital archives for museums, and outreach and educational activities. We collaborate across informatics and humanities communities, and internationally with Tsinghua University, Peking University, Dunhuang Academy, Chinese Institute of Archaeology, University of Tehran, and other organizations in Japan, France and Iran.
