Creating Image Annotations Using the IIIF Curation Platform for a Digital Humanities Project on the Omeka S

The IIIF Curation Platform has been proposing the concept of curation in the world of IIIF for various applications such as image annotation. The talk will introduce a case study of using image annotations created on the IIIF Curation Platform on another platform such as the Omeka S, a popular system for web publishing and digital archives, to manage data for a digital humanities project. We developed a new module for the Omeka S to harvest image annotations from the Canvas Indexer and convert the IIIF curation format to the Omeka-compliant CSV format with the canvas ID and key-value metadata elements. This module is used in our digital humanities project, The Database of Silk Road Ruins.
