Digital Typhoon: A Participatory Information Infrastructure for Sharing Experiences of the Real Space

This paper introduces "Typhoon Memories" and "Twiphoon," released in 2009 as new services from a participatory information infrastructure in Digital Typhoon project. Firstly we describe the positioning of the two systems in the whole picture of Digital Typhoon project. We then discuss the characteristics and the design of those systems from the viewpoint of data visualization or notification-based architecture, and present the result of systems such as photographic hazard maps. Finally we claim that those two systems play the common role of extracting experiences from the real space and transferring them into the digital space to be shared by people.
