Digital Typhoon is providing a number of resources, but it is impossible to cover all the necessary information by a single person. Hence we are planning to grow collaborative databases created through collaboration with various stakeholders. We will accept the output of colla boration as a form of contribution, and integrate with other types of data in Digital Typhoon so that the we enjoy an easier usage and access to data than the case when data is put into isolation. This opens up a new possibility for the evolution of Digital Typhoon into a hub of latest research results and crowdsourcing / citizen science.
Recipe | Past Significant Typhoons | Past Notable Weather Charts | Pictorial Collection of Meteorological Satellite 'Himawari'
Digital Typhoon is a website with complex functionalities, and has a problem of insufficient help guide that explains the usage step by step. Hence we offer the recipe collection that describes practical usages with concrete examples so that readers can get a hint of using the website by just following the procedure.
Digital Typhoon mainly offers data, and has a problem of insufficient explanation in terms of characteristics and disasters of typhoons. Hence we offer basic and concise information about past typhoons with names so that readers can access weather charts after reading the explanation by experts. Please refer to Typhoon Disaster and Damage in the Past for other events.
Database of Weather Maps for Hundred Years does not have textual information, and has a problem of insufficient access methods except for search-by-date. Hence we offer notable weather charts related to historical events or significant weather events so that readers can access weather charts after reading the explanation by experts.
Meteorological satellite Himawari 8 / Himawari-9 are next generation meteorological satellites providing earth observation data with revolutionary features such as high resolution, high frequency, and many bands (especially true color). Among "weather big data" of satellite images, we cropped and collected the images related to disasters, having characteristic cloud patterns, or showing beauty.
