2010-12-31
The 2010 typhoon season had 14 typhoons, which broke the lowest record of 16 typhoons in 1998 and is the historical minimum since 1951. We had two landfalling typhoons in Japan, but they were unique in that both of them made landfall on the Japan Sea side of the island, and Typhoon 201009 even recorded the landfall at Hokuriku region, which is the first since 1951. 6 typhoons approached to Okinawa, which is lower than average (7.0), and 2 typhoons approached to Izu and Ogasawara Islands, which is much lower than average (5.0). The track of the typhoons tend to be west, and no typhoons passed in the east of 150 longitude.
