Typhoon DANAS is still in a intensification process in spite of its location of 36 to 37 degree north, which is a little northern location for a typhoon. Near Japan, Daily Sea Surface Temperature shows that a region with relatively high sea surface temperature is extending toward north along the 150 degree east line, which is near the location of the typhoon. For a small typhoon like Typhoon DANAS, this sea surface temperature might be enough to keep (or increase) its intensity.

Typhoon DANAS was formed in north east of Minamitorishima Island. This typhoon was also born in a relatively northern latitude, following the previous Typhoon FITOW. This typhoon is forecast to move on the Pacific Ocean.
By the way, Typhoon No. 10 may be a good timing for checking the pace of formation of this season's typhoons. A method for checking the pace of formation may be described already before, but I would like to summarize the method again.
- In the top page, click the link "Average = *" in "Number of Typhoon" section.
- Click the link "The list of typhoons born before *" below the graph of "accumulative occurrence of typhoons."
- Among the "next operations" below the table, click the link "view a histogram for the year of birth.
- Click the link "frequency" in the histogram.
- This makes the list of years ordered by the number of formations, so search for the order of the year 2007.
This method reveals that the number of formations at the time of the birth of Typhoon No. 10 is much fewer than average - years with the number of formations less than 2007 is only 1983, 1975, and 1998. In 1998, the number of formations was as exceptionally small as four, but the result shows that year 2007 is the year of inactive typhoons until this moment.
