Typhoon 200616 (BEBINCA) Typhoon Name = (BEBINCA) : Macanese milk pudding [Macao]

2006-10-06 12:30 JST

Typhoon BEBINCA changed to a tropical depression at 09:00 JST without having a well-formed structure through its life. At this moment an extra-tropical cyclone is developing in south of Honshu Island with absorbing this typhoon, and the front including this low-pressure system is bringing heavy rains over Izu Islands and Kanto Region. Typhoon BEBINCA has been an odd typhoon whose structure and track is not well understood. Just after its birth, it consisted of two large cloud clusters, and it was thought that the center of the typhoon might be somewhere between them. But after that, one cloud cluster was completely dissipated, and another one was well developed, which was an unexpected evolution. Maybe the first guess on the center of the typhoon might be a little misunderstanding. Because the interpretation of the typhoon structure had changed in the middle, at one point the center of the typhoon appeared to jump from one place to another. This is a good example that the analysis of the typhoon is difficult when the shape of a typhoon is irregular, and perhaps the track (and intensity) of the typhoon will significantly be revised on the best track based on post-analysis.

Typhoon BEBINCA has a very irregular shape, and it has clouds only in the north. With this shape the typhoon will not deepen significantly, but it is likely to cause heavy rains somewhere far from the center.

Typhoon BEBINCA has an irregular shape from the beginning -- there were no clouds in the center, and instead there were a pair of large cloud regions in the north and in the southwest of the center. Hence the center of the typhoon was poorly defined, and this resulted in the slow intensification process. The formation of Typhoon Typhoon RUMBIA tonight might give more chaotic future to this typhoon.

Typhoon BEBINCA was formed in east of Philippines. This is a typhoon born in the western edge of a big circulation in the Pacific south of Japan, and another tropical depression is also found in the eastern edge of the same circulation. The central pressure is as low as 992hPa from the beginning, but the area of the typhoon is too large and hence less organized, so the rapid intensification of the typhoon is not forecast at this moment, according to Japan Meteorological Agency.
