Typhoon HALONG was born in South China Sea, and was in the beginning of intensification on the 17th, but soon it reached to the mountainous areas of 2000 meters in the north of Luzon Island, and its cloud shape was completely destroyed after passing across the mountains on the 18th. It looked as if this damage was not easy to recover, but it gained its original intensity in the 19th. Now it is moving in south of Okinawa northeastward, and soon Daitoijma Region will be included in the area of strong winds.

There is little possibility of intensification as a typhoon, however, and now it is focused as a "warm and wet cluster of air." Japan is now in the trough and there is a (extra-tropical) cyclone in north of Typhoon HALONG. This cyclone is expected to absorb the warm and wet air of Typhoon HALONG, and is forecast to bring about heavy rains and strong winds in many regions of Japan. This is the effect of an extra-tropical cyclone rather than a typhoon, but it is not rare that an extra-tropical cyclone that has developed by absorbing a typhoon gives a larger impact than a typhoon itself, such as in the case of Typhoon 200616 and Typhoon 200427.

Typhoon HALONG was formed.in South China Sea. This typhoon is still almost stationary in South China Sea, but it is forecast to move eastward across Philippines, and then to south of Okinawa. It was located very close to Typhoon MATMO in the beginning, but Typhoon MATMO started to move rapidly to the east, so the clouds of this typhoon is getting a little better organized.
